Kissinger Winterzauber

The Kissinger Winterzauber [Winter Magic] Festival is an international music festival in Bad Kissingen. Since 1999, the festival keeps the spirits up in the dead of winter (mid-December to mid-January).

Organiser of the Winterzauber Festival is the Bavarian Staatsbad Bad Kissingen GmbH. The then acting Lord Mayor of Bad Kissingen Christian Zoll suggested the Winterzauber Festival as counterpart to the 'Kissinger Sommer'. The Festival takes place in the historic rooms of the 'Arkadenbau' [arcade building] and the 'Regentenbau', e. g. in the Max Littmann or the Rossini Hall.

The 'Kissinger Winterzauber' Festival hosts very diverse series of events such as 'Literatur & Musik' [literature & music], 'Matinée classique', 'Jazz after 8', 'Old Music', 'Entdeckerkonzerte' [embracing a new world], 'Grenzgängerisches' [being a frontier runner] all the way to performances of the Great Symphony Concerts. Renowned international artists and orchestras set the tone at the Winterzauber Festival. Artists like Mario Adorf, Ben Becker, Senta Berger, Gudrun Landgrebe as well as Hollywood stars Klaus Maria Brandauer and Maximilian Schell performed at the winter festival.
